Forgiveness is a double gift. It is a gift to the one who
is forgiven, but also a gift to yourself, freeing
your form the prison of resentment and bitterness.

Summer Family Time is Fleeting
Life is like a cup of tea
it's all about how you make it.
found on Pinterest
We are squeezing the last bit of sunshine
from summer. Hot weather is not
on the long list of my favorite things but
I do love summer for the things it brings.
Not necessarily in this order:
1. Beach
2. Fresh sweet fruit and vegtables
3. Long bright days
4. No homework or tests
5. Picnics
6. Fried Chicken
7. Melons
8. The occasional thunder storm
9. Ice cold tea
10. Road trips
Precious family time.

Whatever the Future Brings
Be thankful in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Whatever the future brings, we have the NOW.
Mr. Lee and I are blessed beyond anything
we could have imagined.
Road trip adventures. Discovery Meadow
Monopoly in the Park. Jacob is the biggest fan
of board games and this is the ultimate board
game.
Jacob is in jail, but Holly is just visiting.
So sad sitting in jail.
for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

We All Need a Friend
People don't always need advice.
Sometimes all they really need is
a hand to hold, an ear to listen,
and a heart to understand them.
Zig Ziglar
My friend, Lori, is that friend.
Her parents, siblings,
and extended family are remarkable.
An All-American
family: loving, hardworking, inclusive
and supportive.
A few years back, our little family started
joining Lori's family at their
cabin to celebrate 4th of July.
For over 50 years the family has gathered
at the cabin to celebrate. My rendition
of the cabin when Lori's children were
small is depicted below.
Lori's mom entrusted me with her treasured
button box. In it were more than 50 years
of collected buttons, lace, and snaps.
I've used some of collection to represent
a winter day at the mountain cabin.
Last Thanksgiving, I asked the family
to each stitch a button unto the canvas.
Stitched with love for a very special friend.
A friend who helped me create through the
darkness back to the light.
Sometimes all they really need is
a hand to hold, an ear to listen,
and a heart to understand them.

Grace at Thanksgiving
Ephesians 1 15:23
Romans 12:2
Grace is what we receive but don't deserve.
My oldest sister, Mericia, was deeply faithful.
She was 18 years older and very old
fashioned. Today, she would
probably be the poster child for traditional
values.
Not me, in 5th grade I became a feminist.
Accepting of all people and unconventional.
Commencing my magnetism for
wounded souls.
Hippie spirited.
At home, we were raised traditionally,
at celebrations,
men would eat first, then the women and then
the women would clear and wash up.
Boys were given enough rope to hang
themselves and girls were watched closely.
Yeah, whatever, this is America and I was not
going to conform.
With two small children, my beautiful
36 six year old sister was diagnosed
with cancer. A death sentence of 6 months.
Her physician sent her home
to get her affairs in order.
She kept journals and recorded a
message for each of her children.
She prayed daily for a little more
time with her children. She was
faithful and didn't complain.
In a twist of cruelty, from the
radiation, she lost the ability to tear.
She could cry but the relief from tears
did not come.
My witness of her suffering,
her unwavering faith, and
commitment helped plant the
seed of compassion.
She held a deep belief,
no matter what
suffering was sustained
here on earth, her
reward would be in heaven.
She believed this with absolute conviction.
I am a better person for having
loved her. By witnessing grace,
my spirit grew.
Mericia lived on
for 7 years beyond her diagnosis.
She'd say, "We never know."
Be grateful in all things.
Not only the good, but
what develops our spirit,
what expands our servant
attitude, and in all things
prepare for His
kingdom.
For these things and so much more
I am truly blessed.
Happy Thanksgiving my beloved.
