Pope Francis Makes Me Remember

Driving into work each morning,
I pray and often listen to some
of my favorite Pastors on the radio.

It's a generic Christian broadcast and some
times the Pastors will take a swipe at the
Catholics.  It always makes me sad.

Let me share, I am of the progressive
persuasion. Card carrying bleeding heart.
I believe in Jesus as my personal savior,
I believe in caring for the poor, children, the
elderly,  the oppressed and persecuted.

Thy word is a light unto my feet, and a light unto my path.  Psalms 119:105

I voted for and believe in Obamacare.
I believe in hard work, education and
pulling yourself up by your boot
straps.  I suck up chronic pain and
show gratitude in all  things.

Do I trust our government, no.
Do I want the government out of my body,
faith, and personal life, yes.
Is there anyone to vote for anymore, Bernie Sanders.

I love the Catholic church, and although
I don't practice faithfully, it is the Church
where I learned to pray, learn to read the
Bible, where I learned
of a personal relationship with Christ,
where I learned of grace (what you don't deserve),
and humility. Where I learned charity, of vows of poverty,
and of sacrificial giving.  Yes, I love the saints and the rosary.

I can still hear my mother praying even
though she had forgotten nearly everything else.
She didn't fear death or the dying because
she had the deepest well of faith.

My faith is personal and deep.
It does not allow me to judge others.
I am a work in progress; a sinner.

We are all human and if your faith
makes you a better person, so be it.
Try not to put others down for their
belief or lack of it.  Love your
neighborhood as yourself.

Surround yourself with diversity,
people of character regardless
of their religion.

About Time

Are you seeking a romantic film?
Well acted with delight background
music, like Nick Cave's hanky worthy,
Into My Arms.   About Time, may just be it.

Mr. Lee and I will often wake up at our
normal time (4 isshh) on a weekend
and watch a film.

About Time was a lovely welcomed surprise.

Wounded Warrior Project

When my friend's husband passed away
she thought of donating his favorite chair
to Wounded Warrior Project.

But then, she offered me the chair.
Saying, I was her wounded warrior.
Not as a veteran but as the sufferer
of chronic painful disease.

Fred was a wounded warrior,
loved his Corps to his dying day.

We honor him daily.

Here we are mama, boy and cat
reclining in Fred's Wounded Warrior chair.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things
are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
 things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue, and if there
be any praise, think on these things.

                                                Philippians 4:8 KJV

It's a start.

Don't wait until everything is PERFECT to
fill your heart's desire.  Do a little every day.
It is all the small things, after all, that provide
the biggest dividends.

We are at an age when our parents may be gone or
in poor health, our siblings and friends may not be in the
best of health or spirits.  Don't bring the ills
of tomorrow upon yourself.
Give thanks for your blessings each morning
and keep moving forward.

In the Company of Angels

Hebrews 13:2

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers,
for by so doing some people have shown
hospitality to angels without knowing it.

I have been estranged from my second son
for nearly ten years.  In ten years, I have
prayed countless prayers.  I will not despair
or give up hope.  My prayers are for the
softening of his heart.  He is in my heart
unconditionally and for always.
There is no judgement
or anger and the hurt has washed away
through years grief.

If I pass before we meet again, I will
carry him and all my children in
my soul.

If there is anyone out there estranged
from their child or parent, I beg you
to make amends, open your heart and forgive.
I have long ago forgiven myself and
I never needed to forgive my son, he was
a child.

Tonight, I prepare to officiate a
wedding tomorrow.  Reminders
of all beginnings and lifelong
marriages.

Pray, practice and open myself
to the light of Jesus.  Amen

Kitty Love at Pumpkin Cottage

There are two types of people
in the world; people who are
passionate about things, and people who've
had their passion punched, beaten, or
whatever out of them.
                                      Kevyn Aucoin

Meet our Rose.  The most beautiful curious kitty
we have ever had.  Mr. Lee is not a kitty person
but Rose has stolen his heart.

Here she is beckoning, Mr. Lee at the kitchen sink.
Please let me in PaPa.

Day tripping with Jessica

An adventure with the get-along.

As we drove to our destination,
Mr. Lee assured Jessica, "We are
headed to a slice of heaven."
"Oh good, I thought you were searching for  a
place to dump my body," Jessica
replied.
It is a rough neighborhood, but
all is forgotten walking through
the garden gate of Annie's Annuals.

And, a chapel from my dreams.

Gorgeous Jessica.

Brave Jessica, who jumped from Mabel, the van, to
pluck some fennel seeds (funcho in Portuguese).

Let Freedom Ring

Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read.
One does not love breathing.
