A few weeks ago, the Get Along
visited Back in Time Antiques
in Redlands.

This one is a charmer with

our hearts are with you.

Brown Sugar Kitchen

Pumpkin Cottage is in love with October. 
Yesterday, it rained.  We sat in the living room
with the front door open to listen to the rain. 

Everything is a little bit greener and brighter.
In Southern California, the rain clears the air, calms
the dust, and perks up everything.  

At the end of September, the get-along-gang,
got up before the crack of dawn
to travel to Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland, California.

For those of you unfamiliar with California,
it's long and the world's eighth largest economy. 
We know what other states say
about us: steers and queers and a bowl full of nuts.

I would not have it any other way. California has everything.
Coastlines, lakes,  mountains, valleys, desserts, redwoods and the
mighty sequoias.  We have diversity in all that is California.
And this family loves their road trips and their good eats.

All seven of us had chicken and waffles and
coffee.  Every bit phenomenal. 
We highly recommend a visit, even if, like us,
you have to leave home at 1 a.m.

I'm a doer, my greatest pleasure used to be
to keep moving.  Cleaning, organizing, gardening,
crafting, dancing and biking.  While my physical
ability is now limited, my mind is always bouncing.


My precious friends and family, like Jessica here,
are willing to play gently.  Travel at a slower pace.
And the two kids pictured with her are my go getters.
They are my legs. 
They assist in too many ways to count. 
AND their harmonizing voices fly me to the moon. 

Everyone is burdened with more responsibility. 
I imagine its the same
in other households lead by disabled parents.

Mr. Lee takes on the biggest chunk of the workload.
What helps lift our spirits is the laughter.
Yes, what little walking is done is always
done with a bounce.

Day Tripping Renegade

Renegade Craft Fair
This weekend Los Angeles. Next weekend San Francisco.


My sister-in-love, Ginny, has a grand home.  Mr. Lee and I have
always thought a table like this would be amazing.

One of our favorite venues, I have to walk a bit, but totally worth
it.  It's hard when the aisles are tight or bumpy. The Grand Park offered
a flat surface and plenty of room.

Across the street, a rally for the celebration of  the 25th Anniversary
of the American's with Disabilities Act was held.  It's a great reminder
of how far we have come and how far we still have to go.

Jacob's first stop for t-shirts Maiden Voyage Clothing.  Alas,

Boy is so happy.

The Get-Along is all about tradition, so a visit to LA
includes french dip at Philippes. 

There is something so awesome about old fashioned
good service and consistency that keeps a host of
fans returning for more.

A perfect family event.  The other things we discovered:

Wrapping Up the Roadtrip

Here's something we missed in Portland,
Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, but as always
the get-along gang covers a lot of ground.

Indoor pools:

The Fishwife tasty seafood.  Not fancy,  but totally our style,
you will love the food and friendly service.

Fancy entertainment near Powell's.
This too is our style. Surprise and in
your face.
The largest book store in our universe.

A visit to Dusty Tiger.
Antiques and collectibles mall.

Tasty home cooking like at
VoVo's or Oma's. So so satisfying, also not
fancy.

More table top games,
what my generation referred to as board games,
with the boy. Guardian Games in Portland
aka the mother ship for table top enthusiasts.

Portland weather, we love it, and beautiful bridges.

Roseburg, Oregon, Bagel Tree Cafe...oh yes, you must stop.

On the road again

The get-along-gang is on the road. We are in a rhythm now. It is strange not having VoVo with us but we can move along a lot faster...small comfort.

We hit the road yesterday after seeing VoVo. Here are some of our photos.
