Welcome Oregon

This water is the color of a blue/green
Kool-Aid.

Welcome to the enchanted forest.  People who can drive in
the rain and the lush variety of nature's greens.

Hungry in Eugene, Oregon?

Glenwood, yummy yum yums.
Friendly staff and really good eats.

Boy heaven.

Beyond excited.  He hadn't realized walking in.

Eugene is a college town. Young fresh faces
all around.  Pedestrians, bicyclist and then cars are king.
It's a lovely slower pace. Southern California is all about
cars and speed.
Memorials like this one are a reminder to stay aware of those
who share the road.

Rain, hail, a tasty hotdog and fries like my mother used to make.
Perfection.  Roake's the original stand since 1937 located in Milwaulkie, OR.

People watching is part of the fun.
The kettle calling the pot black.  His sign says Liberalism is
a mental illness, okay.

Thrift store art.  You got to love it.

Holly modeling. Tulips are a family favorite not necessarily
this 80s print but still.

A $12.00 afghan, Mr. Lee said it felt creepy, go figure.
There was a lot of work to appreciate.

Crispy Creme Easter Donuts..it's
vacation.

A hunt for a favorite Australian
magazine.

Road trip projects.

Another road trip project.

Dinner in the hotel picked up from Screen Door in Portland.
Worth the trip...southern deliciousness.

What Do You Do?

What you do speaks so loud
I cannot hear what you say.

                           Ralph Waldo Emerson

Oh my goodness this is so true,
it stopped me in my tracks.

California is my most favorite place.
Of all the places we have traveled in the United States,
it is the most diverse in people
and terrain.  I know I am partial, but the Northern California
coast is rugged and gorgeous.   Thank you, God for the
beauty of nature.  Blue blue skies, we rarely see in smoggy
Southern California.

Eureka, California. Treasures all around.
Road trips mean food and thrift stores.
Opening our eyes to see all around.

Discovery Shop in Eureka.

Like most families, cancer tore
into our lives and continuous to
create hideous havoc.

Mr. Lee and I try to support
the charities that have blessed
us or are trying to find cures to the condition
near to our hearts.

Across the street, a  delicious burger and a tasty
malt were found.  The lines inside are a very good
sign we have found a local favorite.

Blessings are Miracles - Travellog

April is Autism Awareness Month
The statistics are startling something like
1 in every 54 male births.

We give thanks today and every day for
healthy children. For family fun. For road trip memories.
For children who really get excited about
reading, board games, and swimming.

First night, Corning, CA, Olive Pit:

Holly found our first hotel by searching
on my phone for "hotels with indoor pools near me,"
of course, Google returned hotels with
indoor pools in Maine but it was a great
idea.  So each hotel on our way has
had an indoor pool.

The scariest road was Route 3 this
took us from Redding, CA to the Victorian
Village of Ferndale, CA.

I drove the second super scary
half with cliffs and edges of road
just  inches away.  Our rental van, the
Kia Sedona, has huge a blind spot between
the windshield and the driver's side window.

Gorgeous terrain where the locals fly and
the novice curve their way up, down and around
in a screw like fashion.

Lovely Ferndale Village:

Yeah, that good.

Some times I really need to be reminded
of how good life is and to be more
appreciative.

More to come, for a darling faithful reader, Sue from
Country Roads, where nice really does matter.
