Old Glory, Riverside, CA

When our mother was in the hospital in 2009,
Uncle Joe and I would walk to Old Glory for
a reprieve.

It would be impossible for me to walk from
the hospital to Old Glory these 6 years later.
My body, but not my mind, has changed 
so much.  Still those memories are alive
and I still like to visit.

Something for everyone who adores
vintage.

Southern California Quilt Run

Whatcha doing for the weekend, they ask?
The Quilt Run, confused looks, then I explain.
The Get-Along has been doing the run for years.
We are all creatives, crafters  - of all types
are, for the most part, a welcoming group,
along the way there are all kinds of fresh
ideas, decorating loveliness, restaurants and
thrift stores in the surrounding areas.

bottle holder at the thrift stores we visit.

Weekend Follies

Weekend follies.


This morning I searched for
creative inspiration for weekend follies.
My friends often ask where we plan
to go on weekend.  Our intent is to try
something new each month.

When we have a destination in
mind, I search the internet for
yarn and fabric stores, antiques,
thrift stores, food, farmers' markets.

Our resources stem from
public radio/television, music,
blogs I follow, reading magazines.

Mr. Lee and I have
shared interests with varying
spectrums. We both read
periodicals to compliment
our individual interest.

Fireworks sparks when our worlds
collide, a very good thing. Everything is better
when shared

In the near future we'll visit:

LA Yarnbomb at the Craft and Folk Art Museum
in Los Angeles.

The movie Hope Springs

Sigh.

This movie was do difficult for me to watch.
I recognized that marriage and it was not pleasant visiting.
If you are living in a marriage or relationship that doesn't make your 
soul sing viewing this movie may help.  Drag your man.
It is a chick flick for men who want a better marriage, too.

This week I discovered Dennis Swanberg on Focus on the Family.
Sometimes Focus is too much.  Too far to the right, homophobic, too 1950s,
but sometimes it quenches my desire for something simpler.
Something sweet like southern iced tea.

I love Dennis' spin on marriage and his southern drawl.
The fashion and hair in the videos is so 80s...big hair for women
and all kinds of pieces on the men.

Years ago a bought the moss rose pattern above in teacups. 
Later, Joe, gave me similar saucers.  Still love them.

During our recent visit to Half Moon Bay, my friend
snapped this photo.  It's the apartment building that
has occupied 424 Purisima for years.

This photo is a bit wobbly.  The cuteness probably
made me nervous.
