October Owl

Witches: Double, double toil and trouble
                Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.

              MACBETH Act 4, Scene 1, 10-11

 Making at French General with
 Mary Stanley.

Had to choose between making an owl or
a pumpkin.  Finished making the owl and
brought home the wool for a pumpkin.

Lost it on the Neighbors

It takes a lot for me to blow.
A lot lot.
I'm the type that doesn't think of anything
witty to say
until weeks later.

This evening, I couldn't drive into my happy
garage, so happy to be home garage, because
for the umpteenth time the neighbor
had parked behind our garage to
"unload."

I waited to see if he was really unloading.
Nothing, nada, nada.
Another car enters the queue.
We live in the middle of a dead end
alley.

Something inside of me SNAPS.
I start honking like a mad woman.
Insanity possesses me.

He comes out and moves past me.
I back up and pull into the garage.
But this time I am not going to
to let it go.

My gippy tired body flies
out of the van.
Cussing like a sailor on leave.
So angry, so tired, so so tired
of people who park in
the clearly marked fire lane.

In front of everyone I clearly
lose all decorum.
Neighbors pour out of their homes.
Watching the little, obviously deranged,
pumpkin woman lose it.

Yeah, I don't know how
we are going to find
world peace either.

Thrifted Treasures

This jewel didn't come home with us,
but what an adorable project for the
winter break in December.

Maybe have each kid decorate an outfit.

School Days

If I am not,
may God put me there;
and if I am, may God so keep me.

As an eighth grader,
I selected Joan as my
patron saint.  Whenever I
require courage, I turn to
her.  Just a girl, obedient to God,
with the courage
of men.  It's all I need.

For many, I am invisible, a tiny
disabled teapot of a women.
Most strangers seem uncomfortable
with my appearance. Does it hurt?
Do you have back problems?
My my you walk fast with that cane.
Yeah, get out of my way.

I don't mind the comments.
They are strangers, after all.
White noise after all these years.
What I mind is being disregarded.

My brother, Joe, used to say that
I would go from zero to 60 in under a
second.  I am slower to burn these days,
but if you bring me to anger, especially
if you mess with my children,  WATCH
out.

On being Optimistic

I have become my own version of an
optimist.  If I can't make it through
one door, I'll go through another door-or
I'll make a door.  Something terrific
will come no matter how dark the
present.

On the Path of Light

But Betsie put a finger on my mouth.
"Don't say it, Corrie! There are no 'ifs'
in God's world. And no places that
are safer than other places.  The
center of His will is our only safety-
Oh Corrie, let us pray that we may
always know it."

Things come to my intuitive self.
I don't believe in coincidences,
never  have.  Everything happens
for a reason.

the sociopath next door

This book is a slow read,  I got to the part
where the child sociopath blows up frogs and
have had to struggle to get through it.  It is necessary
reading for the place I find myself.
