Adventures in Junk

Enjoy the little things,
for one day you may look back
and realize they were he big things.

May have to go back to retrieve this beauty.

Summer Family Time is Fleeting

Life is like a cup of tea
it's all about how you make it.
    found on Pinterest

We are squeezing the last bit of sunshine
from summer.  Hot weather is not
on the long list of my favorite things but
I do love summer for the things it brings.

2. Fresh sweet fruit and vegtables
3. Long bright days
4. No homework or tests
5. Picnics
6. Fried Chicken
7. Melons
8. The occasional thunder storm

What does true love look like?

"Sometimes our light goes out but is blown
into flame by another human being
Each of us owes deepest thanks to those
who have rekindled this light."

Mr. Lee was sharing that he had
overheard someone say, "If you are lucky,
you will spend 18 summers with your
children."

My mother would say, "The best time
of your life is when your children are little."
This precious time is like youth lost on the young.

We want to make the most of it,
each and every moment.
Summer is wrapping up.  The Get-Along-Gang
always tries to have a transition week
from summer to fall.

Unlike most of the parents we know,
we are not excited to have school start.
The beginning of school marks the
beginning of strict bed times, homework
obligations, and darkness at dinner time.

We've done this before and
understand time is fleeting.

Hit Pause with Crafts

What is the anatomy of time?
Living in the age of multitasking
is making us sick.  The craft
movement is the movement
of slowing time.

Visit to Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, Claremont, CA

To craft is to pray, to meditate,
and slow our heart rates.  We
crave the stillness and quiet
of craft. The courtship of craft.

There is no way to speed up time
while creating. A gift of something
handmade is the precious gift of time
and love.

Let your heart sign.

Friendship is the source of the greatest pleasures,
and without friends even the most agreeable
pursuits become tedious.

The Art of the Soul

The soul always knows what to do to heal itself.
The challenge is to silence the mind.

                                             Caroline Myss

'Illness can develop as a consequence of
behavioral patterns and attitudes that we do not
realize are biologically toxic until they have already
become so.' 8/11/2014

Do you ever just bounce while surfing the net?
My search started with Engadine, Switzerland.
Google it, amazing white capped mountains and
chalets.

I ended up with Carline Myss, who I had seen
on Oprah years ago.  As an intuitive spirit,
I go where I am lead, in my mind nothing
is an accident.  This is how God guides me.
Speaks to me, if you will.  I don't hear
voices but I am most definitely prompted
along.  A gentle shove, not to bring me
to my knees, although that has happened,
but to keep me moving in the right direction.

Yes, unfortunately, brick walls do have to
fall on me.  Multiple times, my spirit is
willing but my brain is dense.

Never Never to Late

Oh my gosh.  We woke up this morning to music.
Mr. Lee decided to add to his over 3,500 song Ipod
music collection.  We all get into it.

The kids selected from the HairSpray sound
track.  I picked a Jake Owen's song and Mr. Lee
select alternative rock sounds.  My preference is to
male voices and his is to the female variety.
Roadtrip mixes.

Then, I bounced over to Susan Branch's
blog.  And, drum roll please, the piece de resistance,
bump over to Minding the Workplace, my favorite anti-bullying
blog, for a link to Huffington's post on 50 over 50.

Then Uncle Joe sends me an invite to
Advanced Style Documentary.

Loving to Read

No one tried to censor my reading, though
occasionally when I happened on a book that
I could not understand and asked too many
difficult questions before people, the book
would disappear.  I remember this happened
to Dickens' Bleak House, and  I spent days hunting for it
and wondering where I could have left it!
